Week 21: Prat – Hibs Supporters

by Charlie_East_West on May 24, 2016

Our prat of the week award goes to the Hibs Supporters who invaded the Hampden Park pitch after their team won the Scottish Cup for the first time in 114 years with an injury time winner v Rangers.

The end to the Hibs cup hoodoo meant they also became first lower league club to win the trophy since East Fife in 1938 and it sparked a pitch invasion from Easter Road supporters at the end of the match which encouraged Rangers fans to come on the pitch as well.

Hibernian FC are a grand old team of Scottish Football. They have a fantastic history and support – as was shown when their supporters belted out The Proclaimers ‘Sunshine On Leith” after winning a classic Scottish Cup Final – 3-2 v Rangers.

It was a glorious day for Hibs that should have been remembered for the right reasons.

Unfortunately it may well be remembered for a few numpties storming the pitch, pulling down the goalposts, manhandling Rangers players and digging up the Hampden pitch for a souvenir.

I might be wrong, but with the recent events at Upton Park, where West Ham fans threw bottles at the Manchester United bus, we might be entering into another era of hooliganism.

I hope that I am wrong.
