#988: 1981, Visage, Fade To Grey

by George_East on February 13, 2015

So I’m in Berlin for my annual film festival trip and what do I find out when I leave the cinema after watching a frankly bonkers mess of a Chinese film: Steve Strange has died.

It is kind of appropriate that I am posting this from Germany as few bands were more influenced by Kraftwerk than Visage, and this their biggest hit has Krautrock written all over it.  Steve Strange was a pivotal figure in the New Romantic scene and represented the best of what it was before it went all  a bit too Durany white soul and bland.   Futuristic, atmospheric and other worldly.  It seemed to be an ever present on the radio in my early teens.

Steve Strange RIP.

Agree completely. I still have a rare 12″ version of this, which was highly coveted at the time. One of the tracks of my youth and the passing of another creative influence saddens me.

Auf Wiedersehen Steve.
