#972: 2009, Bob Dylan, Must Be Santa

by George_East on December 25, 2014

It is time for this year’s Christmas song here on allthatsleft.

We’ve had some corkers in the past, including the genius of Billy Childish’s Christmas 1979 (‘a merry fucking Christmas to you all’), an all time Phil Spector classic in The CrystalsSanta Claus Is Coming To Town and the political soul revivalism of Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings’ Ain’t No Chimneys In The Projects.

This year’s pick comes from one of the oddest Christmas albums of recent times, Bob Dylan’s collection of Christmas standards, Christmas In The Heart (though it might have been surpassed in oddness by this month’s Mark Kozalek’s Mark Kozalek Sings Christmas Carols).   It is by a distance not Bob Dylan’s best album but it does have some gems on it, including this rousing singalong polka version of Must Be Santa.

Take it away Bob….
