#858: 1979, Glen Campbell, Hound Dog Man

by Charlie_East_West on February 22, 2014

I have always had a soft spot for Glen Campbell. In my humble opinion, he is one of the greatest country singers of all time, perhaps only beaten by Johnny Cash.

Tonight’s song of choice, Hound Dog Man comes from Glen Campbell’s 1979 album, Highwayman – it is his tribute to Elvis Presley.

The video is so uncool it becomes seriously cool. Even Jimmy Carter is tapping his hand along in appreciation. Glen Campbell and Jimmy Carter:- two massively under-appreciated men in the same room.

“Hey, Hound Dog Man. My old friend. Play it again.”
