Austerity is served up on a silver platter at the Lord Mayor’s dinner

by Charlie_East_West on June 20, 2013

Date: Wednesday June 19th, 2013
Event: The Lord Mayor’s Banquet for Bankers and Merchants
Venue: Mansion House, London
Dress Code: Black Tie
Keynote Speaker: The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne

George Osborne stated at the Lord Mayor’s banquet for bankers and merchants that, “Britain has left intensive care” – looking at this bulbously grand affair, it is clear that there are some parts of Britain that have miraculously avoided economic intensive care.

I say, please pass the foie gras, Gideon old boy.

Gideon said as long ago as October 2010, that the British economy was out of the danger zone. As some journo or the other pointed out on Twitter – it would appear that, having come out of the danger zone, the economy must have been hit by a bus and put back in intensive care. There is only one candidate for driver of that bus.

Osborne does not give a shit about people’s lives. It is all about a giant game of power for him.
How could he give a shit? He inherited a fortune, and has absolutely no understanding of the normal day to day grind affecting the majority of people in this country.
And that, is the major fault line in the corridors of power at present. It is stuffed full of ideological lightweights, coporate machine men, the gilded elite, and old money chinless wonders – people who have gone into politics for all the wrong reasons, never had to fight for anything, and therefore, they come up with so called solutions just to impress the establishment that they are subservient to.
It is mere bagatelle for these people. It is a game not a vision.

I did laugh for some considerable time though, when I heard that Barack Obama had called him Geoffrey all night – bloody genius!
