King of The Valleys Award 2010

by George_East on January 3, 2011

And so to this year’s final two Awards. The King of the Valleys Award is awarded to the person or institution which has seen their reputation or status fall the most in the course of the year.

In 2010 there could be only one winner, the Liberal Democrat MP for Twickenham the Comedy Count…Mister Vincent Cable MP.

Vince’s spectacular fall from the most popular and respected politician in the country to the most ridiculous has been well documented on this site. It has been all the more entertaining to watch given that the man appears to have an ego the size of Jupiter.

From being so essential to the Lib Dem’s election campaign that he got equal billing with Nick Clegg on their battle bus to falling for the Daily Telegraph’s eye lash fluttering sting and publicly having one of his key responsibilities stripped from him by David Cameron. From appearing as an expert economics pundit on TV news items about the financial crisis to holding three positions at one time on his own department’s policy. It truly had been a dizzyingly fast descent for Cable in 2010. A worthy winner of our inaugral award.
